THE ASIAKWA ORPHANS

Some time ago, I happened to make acquaintance with a person who has become one of my very good friends. John, a Catechist Father, is at the head of an orphanage in Asiakwa, a very poor rural village situated North West of Accra in Ghana, West Africa.
Knowing that I lived in Europe, he asked me if I could send him some football jerseys and shorts for the junior pupils.
Not knowing much about football, but nonetheless wanting to help, I thought that the best thing to do
was to send him some money so he could get them on the spot .
Some time later I received a warm letter thanking me for all that I had done and some photos of some of the children.
I had not sent a big sum of money, at least in my eyes, but now I realize that it was a great deal for John and his orphans because the school is so very poor and they desperately need any help that can be given.
